Prices, MRP and discounts
When you'd use this: to understand what the customer pays for an item.
How the price is worked out
| You enter | Customer pays | Example |
|---|---|---|
| MRP only | MRP | MRP ₹500 → ₹500 |
| MRP + Selling price | Selling price | MRP ₹1,299, SP ₹799 → ₹799 |
| MRP + Selling price + Discount % | Selling price less the discount | MRP ₹1,000, SP ₹800, 10% → ₹720 |
| MRP + Discount % | MRP less the discount | MRP ₹1,800, 80% → ₹360 |
| Selling price only (no MRP) | Selling price (less any discount) | SP ₹40, 25% → ₹30 |
You need at least an MRP or a selling price. The selling price can't be more than the MRP.
When you enter both a selling price and a Discount %, the discount comes off the selling price — an extra offer on top of your price. In the example above, ₹720 is 28% below MRP, not 10%.
On the bill
The item's rate prints first and the discount on its own line, so customers see the saving:
1000 Wala
1box x 1,800.00 1,800.00
Discount 80% -1,440.00
At the bottom, You saved ₹… shows the total saving against MRP.
Change the discount for one bill
The item's Discount % is added to the bill automatically. To change or remove it for just this bill, use Discount on the bill review screen.
Cost price and profit
Add a cost price to an item to see profit in reports. Profit is worked out on the price before GST (GST isn't your income), and each bill remembers the cost at the time of sale — changing a cost later doesn't change past profit.
