Import items from Excel

When you'd use this: to add your whole price list at once, or to change many prices together.

Steps​

  1. Open Items and tap Import / Export Excel.

  2. Tap Download template. Save it to Google Drive, or send it to your own WhatsApp to open on a computer.

  3. Fill the template in Excel or Google Sheets — one item per row. Delete the example rows first.

    • Item name is required, plus MRP or Selling price (or both).
    • Optional: Cost price, Discount %, Unit, Category, GST %, Price includes GST (Yes/No), Barcode, HSN, Stock, Favourite (Yes/No).
    • Leave a column blank to use your shop's default (unit, GST).
    • The How to fill sheet in the file explains every column.

  4. Back in Galla Peti, tap Choose Excel file and pick your file (.xlsx, .xls or .csv).

  5. Check the preview. You'll see how many items are New, will Update existing items, or Need fixing — each problem shows the Excel row number and what's wrong.

  6. Tap Import N items. Rows that need fixing are skipped — fix them in Excel and import again.

Update prices in bulk​

  1. Tap Export my items — you get your full list in the same format.
  2. Change prices in Excel.
  3. Import it back. Items with the same name or barcode are updated instead of added twice. (Turn off Update items that already exist before importing if you only want new items.)

Tips​

  • A blank cell replaces the old value when updating — for example a blank Stock turns off stock tracking for that item. Exported files have every column filled, so export → edit → import is safe.
  • Starting over with a new season's list? Items → Delete all items, then import.
